Ricochet

God doesn’t tell us to sin nor does he make us sin — it is actually impossible for him to do either, because to sin means to miss the mark, and the mark here, is God’s will (his desires / his commands /his assignments). Therefore, if God were to tell you to do something and you did it, even if it seemed wrong according to hominal morality, you would not have committed a sin, you would have committed an act of obedience.

Recently, what I have noticed about sin is that while God does not cause you to sin he can use your sin (the things you did and said that goes against how he desires for you to live and behave) to navigate you to his will.

Think of it this way. If you have ever played a game of pool or have watched others play, you may have noticed that it is possible to strike the ball with the pool stick in such a way that the ball accelerates towards the cushion (which runs along the perimeter of the slate ( the flat plane that makes up the playing surface of the pool table)), collide with it, then ricochet off of the cushion , changes course; accelerating in a different direction, ultimately falling into a pocket that the player intended for it to end up in all along.

Like the masterful pool player, God can over come your sin and position you exactly where he designed for you to be.

It’s much easier to end up in sin than any of us realize, even the most horrendous of situations, but God is able to imagine and implement a ricochet.

So, don’t worry — confess your sins to God, decide not to do them any longer, and watch God correct the trajectory of your life — no matter how you feel or how it looks you are not too divergent from God’s will to get back on track, back on schedule and back to the blessings that God has waiting on you at your destination.
