Q: Is it wrong to wear fur and/or leather?
A : Leather and fur were not in God’s original plans but neither was clothing for that matter — Adam and Eve were designed to live naked (Genesis 3:10-11) However, after sin entered the world God made modifications to His plans and the world he made, one of which, involved clothing the humans, who now felt ashamed because of their nakedness. God, as the original fashion designer, made clothes for Adam and Eve out of animal skins (Genesis 3:21). God is good (Mark 10:18) and it is not good to be cruel, so if God creating clothing for Adam and Eve using animals skins then those clothes must be good and cruelty-free.
The act of wearing clothing made from fur and/or leather is not bad in itself but the practices of the furriers and tanners themselves (and their industries) could possibly be bad.
There is no need to attack a person for wearing fur or leather nor is there any reason to deface their fur/leather goods, that is an ad hominem attack, in doing so you are attacking the wrong target, misplaced action.
So if you so desire to wear fur or leather it is alright, perhaps, just check on the practices of the supplier to make sure they are in alignment with God’s will.
