Watch your mouth
Have you ever killed your loved one with your words?
Probably!
Is your loved one’s failure because of you?
Probably!
Have you caused crisis in your own life?
Probably!
The things we speak happen (unless our words are countered by more powerful words) ! God shows us this by his example in Genesis 1.
So when you said your child’s business wouldn’t make it, or you said that you only have a week to live, when you called yourself a failure, or told them they would never amount to anything, when the doctor said there is nothing more that can be done and now it’s only a matter of time…, or you called someone crazy, when you said you act just like your daddy, etc. Things that were not, were being called into being (you were speaking failure, malfunction, and death into existence)
You did not know (or believe) that every word you speak counts and so out of ignorance or disbelief you said all kinds of things and then when they happened you believed it proved your point, but really you caused what ended up happening simply by speaking it! “I told you so” in reality is actually “I caused it“ in many cases (Think about that for a second)
Scripture says this about God:
“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” - Isaiah 55:11
“So God created humans to be like himself; he made men and women.” -Genesis 1:27 CEV
(God made us to be LIKE himself, however we are not gods in our own right. We are to do His work on the Earth during our lifetime — he gave us the ability to do some of the things He can do — however if we use that power incorrectly it can have disastrous results)
“But you must always act like your Father in heaven.” -Matthew 5:48 CEV
(Treat others how God would treat them - if God says something bad towards a person His intention is to produce bad in that person’s life. Likewise if you speak bad towards a person badness can come to them also)
“…even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” -Romans 4:17 KJV
(God says things are before they are and because he said it, it happens)
And it tells us this about ourselves:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” -Proverbs 18:21
(What you say can destroy or boost, prevent or enable, curse or bless)
“A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” - Proverbs 15:4
(low self esteem, negative self talk, poor self image, suicidal ideation, failure, bad behavior, etc can come from, and often comes from, what other people say to someone - your mind believes what is repeated to it. Likewise, grit, resilience, positive self-esteem, a propensity for success can also come from what you are told from those who are around you)
“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” - Ephesians 4:29
(your mouth should have a filter. You do not need to say everything that you think. Only say things that will teach, correct, encourage)
“There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” - Proverbs 12:18
(you can hurt or kill someone and/or your relationships with the things you say…but you can also repair damage already done with your words)
“With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered” - Proverbs 11:9
(You are not doomed by what others speak over you, if you know how to counter it with God’s words and Word you can be delivered from the curses spoken over you and your life)
“Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.” - Proverbs 13:3
“Don't let your mouth get you in trouble! And don't say to the worship leader, “I didn't mean what I said.” God can destroy everything you have worked for, so don't say something that makes God angry.” - Ecclesiastes 5:6
“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak” - Matthew 12:36
(Don’t be deceived God hears and cares about everything you say)
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent. - Proverbs 10:19
“If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.” - James 1:26
(Routinely critical and cursing christians need to re-evaluate. Are you who you say you are?)
“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” - Luke 6:45
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates]. He says to you, “Eat and drink,” Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost].” - Proverbs 23:7 AMP
(what you say and do comes from what you think about so someone who says or does evil has thought about it first, even if briefly, the body is under control of the mind - a contaminated (to be impure, dirty, or poisonous because of adding foreign, dirty, or dangerous substances) or unhealthy (poor mental functioning caused be poor health) mind leads to bad words and actions )
Something to think about:
Why does scripture tell us to praise and bless the Lord? Well your words impact God too!
“Our father…your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven “. This prayer is speaking victory over God…we are blessing God…speaking success to him and his plans!
So when someone curses and they say “G** D****” what do you think that does!? When you say “I’ll be d***** “ what do you think that does?
Taking that further, what do you think it does when you call yourself or someone else: an a** hole, b****, m***** f*****, dumb a**, son of a b****, etc - why do you suppose it called curse words?
Why has life been so hard for you and those attached to you? Maybe just maybe you’re mouth had something to do with it!
If you dabble in witchcraft (even innocently reading books or watching movies/shows about witches), do not believe for a second that no harm is being done, the words you say (or hear) are doing something and the ones you (or they) are speaking to are coming to you when you (they) call out to them (so don’t be surprised when you become afraid and loose your peace - that is you sensing the presence of the wickedness you (they) summoned)
What to do now:
God does not desire to guilt trip you (the devil does). God just wants you to:
Realize what you are doing wrong
Stop doing the wrong thing
Admit to Him what you did wrong
Ask Him for forgiveness
Do the hard, but worth it work of choosing your words carefully, saying only what you desire to happen (no matter what the situation looks like looks like)
Bonus: When you hear someone speaking trouble over another, counter their statement(s) with words that bless the person they are speaking about
Tip: When someone intentionally or unintentionally speaks a curse over you, reject it (out loud in Jesus’ name). I literally say “I reject that in Jesus’ name. Don’t speak that over my life“
Bonus: speak a blessing over everyone and everything that you have cursed to reverse the damage you have caused
Bonus: Clean up your mess: Correct with others the wrong words that you have spoken about people
